Sevika Sangham held its September Cottage Meeting at Anna Chandy's home. Julie Mathew led the Bible study and discussion on Proverbs 31 and its application in our daily lives.
Youth Fellowship Meeting
Horeb youths met at Ruth Simon's home on Fri, Sep 24th for their monthly fellowship meeting. Merry Thomas led the youths in Bible study and on the topic of "Reorienting our minds to notice God in all moments of our real lives."
Annual Convention
Horeb held its annual convention this year from Fri, Sep 2nd - Sun, Sep 4th. Mr. George Varghese from MTC Dallas, Farmers Branch was the main speaker. The theme of the convention was "Redeemed to Worship". Rev. Bijoy M. John (Vicar of LAMTC) and family joined us on the first night of the convention.
Sevika Sangham Sunday, Fundraiser & Dinner
“Women: Defenders of Faith” was the theme for this year’s Sevika Sangham Sunday. Horeb women assisted with the liturgy, Bible readings, collecting offertory, and Julie Varghese gave the sermon. Sevika Sangham members also sang a special song during service which can be viewed here.
A fundraiser was held after service for Sevika Sangham mission activities and Horeb’s Church Building fund. In addition, a special dinner was served by the Sevika Sangham. You can view more photos in the slideshow here. It was created by Mr. Saji Baby.
Seniors' Sunday
Horeb celebrated Seniors’ Sunday on September 18th. Senior members assisted with different parts of the service, and Prasad Varghese gave the sermon. The senior members also sang a song during service which can be viewed here.
School Supplies Outreach
Our Youth Fellowship held a school supplies drive for the benefit of kids in an orphanage in Tijuana, Casa de la Esperanza (House of Hope), and we received a truly astounding amount of donations from Horeb and Garden Grove United Methodist Church members. Joana Thomas coordinated the outreach and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions.
