Pentecost Sunday
Congregations that worship at GGUMC came together as one body to worship on Pentecost Sunday, June 5th. The diverse congregations included American, Korean, Samoan, Vietnamese, and South Indian cultures. Rev. Dr. Bau Dang (Senior Pastor of GGUMC), Eketone Tosi (Samoan Pastor), Pastor Yong Park (Garden Grove Korean Mission Church), and Rev. Arun Samuel Varghese (Horeb MTC) conducted the service. Horeb members participated during Bible readings, choir song, and Arun Achen gave the sermon.
Ordination Anniversary
July 15, 2022 will mark the 5th anniversary of the ordination of Arun Achen. The Holy Ordination Service of Rev. Arun Samuel Varghese was conducted by the late Metropolitan, the Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma in the presence of the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Mar Thoma Church of Dallas Farmers Branch. Also present was former Horeb Vicar, Rev. Dennis Abraham.
Rev. Dr. Bau Dang Farewell & Father's Day
Rev. Dr. Bau Dang (M.Div., MBA, D.Min.), has retired as Senior Pastor of Garden Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Bau Dang studied at Biola University, National University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Claremont School of Theology. Rev. Dang is also one of the translators of the Vietnamese Bible, 2011 Version (BD2011). He has been the Senior Pastor of Garden Grove United Methodist Church since July 1, 2014 and a good friend of Horeb MTC. Several Horeb members spoke at Rev. Dang's retirement reception on Sunday, June 19, 2022 and Horeb MTC presented him with a plaque and gift honoring him. Horeb also celebrated Father's Day on Sunday, June 19th. A group photo was taken and a Father's Day slide show was shown.
