Sock Sunday

Garden Grove United Methodist Church has invited us to participate in a “sock drive” for the children of the Assistance League of Garden Grove. They are inviting all of the congregations to participate in this wonderful giving opportunity. They are in need of black “no show” or ankle socks. So please bring your socks on Sunday, Feb 12th.

Advent Food Drive

Our Sunday School hosted an Advent Food Drive to serve low-income working families in Orange County through an organization called Loaves and Fishes in Santa Ana. Inspired by the miracle of the multiplication of loaves by Jesus, the Loaves and Fishes ministry has been partnering with St. Joseph Church and other local churches to collect and distribute food to needy families in Orange County for the last 35 years.

Horeb Sunday School was able to collect 160 pasta boxes and deliver them to the Loaves and Fishes program to give to families in need. A big thanks to Julie Mathew for organizing the outreach.

The coordinator, Maria Dzida, was very grateful to Horeb Sunday School for their contribution. Please see the thank you note from Maria below.

“Thank YOU, Julie, and all the good people at Horeb Church for your compassionate care for those in our community. Our families are always so grateful for the extra help that your church is able to provide as they struggle to make ends meet. God bless all of you at Horeb Church for your kindness!” – Maria Dzida

Native American Mission Trips and VBS Camps for 2023

“Every Marthomite is a missionary.” – Late Lamented Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan

Reaching Out in Love to the Native American Community
The Native American Mission began as a part of our efforts to reach out to our neighbors in North America. For the past twenty years, we have been working among various Native American communities, including the Choctaw in Alabama and Oklahoma, the Houma in Louisiana, and the Navajo in Utah and New Mexico. The primary goal of the mission program is to reach out to the community with Christian love, especially the children and youths who are in need of understanding and discovering their identity in Christ. The Mar Thoma Church has reached out to this community to collaboratively foster fellowship, to deepen Christian faith, to provide mentorship, to empower parents and youths, and to encourage local leadership.
